Melaka our heritage

A few weeks ago , a friend from Sabah spent the night at our home, a whole Unser full of them! The next day we brought them to A Famosa and as I walked into the remains of the old Fort ,
There was an artist named Danial Wasu sitting inside inside with his drawings . I should scan a few so you can see what beauties they were. He had some very old paintings and pictures he had inherited from his grandad who collected them a long time ago and the scenes were from Melaka's past. Danial knew a lot of history of Melaka and his drawings spoke to us about the past. Of coconut trees and kampung houses , of our former occupiers, of a time long gone when things were much slower and life was perhaps less complicated.
Picture above , we are having a meal at a restaurant in the Melaka Trade center.

Danial is from a mixed Portuguese Indian parentage and to complicate matters, he married a Malay wife and is now Muslim.

For whatever reason, I just love going to Melaka (the bandaraya). Must be the chance to soak in all the history. And love love love Jonkers Street - I particularly like the one shop that sells old clocks. I have pictures taken at the very same place you posted :)

Roza a couple with 6 children! When they called I thought it was only 2 of them so I prepared my guest room very nicely..then the whole Unser full came and luckily my children are all away so we gave them 3 rooms! You and family are welcome anytime, we always treat our guests very well insya allah!
QOTH , yes Melaka has that rich past feeling that is so endearing . I like the maritime museum which shows what a great Muslim port it used to be before those greedy Mat Sallehs came to destroy it!

How sedih.. I find it sad that there are hardly any books (discounting Sejarah Melayu yang emm hmmm...) abour our rich past!

A person who never learns from his/her mistakes are doomed to repeat them...

How can we learn if we have no past?

Sigh...

yes , how indeed! The Malaysians have such a rich past. Not only rich but really glorious in many ways .I feel really sick when people say silat is khurafat and a kris is khurafat because there are jinns etc. for god's sake! There will come a time when all the guru silats will be Mat Sallehs, who for all their tricks know how to value what is valuable.
