Ramadan Market! Eid Mubarak!
I cannot resist posting these pictures on the Ramadan market in Masjid Tanah. The people from town have come back to their kampung. The small town is nicely all jammed up with last minute shoppers. There are things to buy a plenty , food in a bewildering array, cookies, serunding , and clothes ...enjoy!
Perhaps you can recognise some of the food. The drinks stall has coconut juice, sea coconut juice and durian belanda juice. There is a shawamar stall and also a grilled chicken stall specifically ayam percik. And some cookies , and see the wealth of tropical fruits; papayas, water melons, honey melons and bananas.
And the clothes being sold include the baju Melayu and the baju kurung..The whole town has a festive air . There were Malays Indians and Chinese at the Pasar Ramadan. Tomorrow is Depavali and on Thursday will be Eid ul Fitri

Everything's so colorful and inviting. How can you not buy something?
A colourful display indeed :)
Wonder when I come to Melaka again, I really did have a wonderful time there.
PS Referring to your last reply: Yes, that's me :) When I first stumbled upon your blog, I'm not sure if you're that Dr. Suriya, but after looking at your picture there's no mistaking you. So forgive me for not introducing myself earlier :p
Wow! These are such vibrant pictures! You should post some of your Ramadan celebration inshallah. I'll try to remember my camera and post some of Eid in Chicago. I'm sure it's much more low key than there though.
:) Those pics made me realise how much I miss home.. yes even those gaudy table spreads they use in the stalls! Living in a place where everyone seems to think black is the height of fashion makes me miss the burst of colours surrounding us at home.
I sooo want some real ayam percik caught between bamboo sticks.. oh and by the way do people still put chilli sauce & mayo in the shawarma at the markets? Hehehehe...
wa wa waaaaaa..
rindunya hatiku kat malaysia...
malaysiaaaa malaysiaaaaaa..
huwaaaaaa @_@
Problem is kenakelayan and hanchan, when you are back for good here in Malaysia, you will also be missing sooo much the coldness of the weather, the cold grey buildings and surprisingly even, 'sikap dingin' orang-orang putih tu.
Tak percaya, tunggu nanti....
:) I already know what I will miss from UK... spring, especially, and the transport, and the multiculturalism, but hopefully I won't miss it too much. But I will miss the wonderful people I met here.. actually I find the sikap dingin very funny one.
Selamat Hari Raya Hanchan, from one Perantau to another... where exactly are you? Gambatte ne...

Hehehe you can tell I hang around with people from the Indian subcontinent a LOT.
